Since vehicular emissions are the leading cause of nitrogen dioxide pollution in Atlanta, this emission source is often blamed for Atlanta ozone challenges. According to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Atlanta ranks 2nd nationally for most air pollution from motor vehicles.
