Maui is not crime-ridden, and our island does not experience many of the crimes that plague large cities.Most crime on Maui is non-violent, like vehicle break-ins and thefts.

The Index Crime rate decreased 24.3%. In 2019, of the 5,433 Index Crimes reported: • Property crimes accounted for 91.7% (4,984). Violent crimes accounted for 8.3% (449). Maui County’s total Index Crime rate in 2019 was at its lowest level on record since the start of statewide data collection in 1975.
