The Pennsylvania State Capitol building is a functional seat of government, where laws are passed and the public policy is set for over 12 million residents of Pennsylvania. Visitors are welcome to explore the Capitol Building at their leisure, on regular weekdays.

Is the Capitol open to the public?

The Capitol Visitor Center is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

It does not cost anything to tour the Capitol Building. You can take a guided tour or get an information sheet from visitors desk and walk around yourself. When you go by yourself, you are able to stop in to many of the offices and get a tour of those offices and mush more history on the building and rooms.
