The Fort Hill area is a nice historic neighborhood in Boston. It is residential so it doesn’t have shops and cafes like some other areas of Boston. Unlike some parts of Roxbury it is considered a safe area.

It’s best for tourists to avoid most parts of Roxbury, Dorchester, and Mattapan. Exploring in the daytime can be safe, but these areas are more dangerous than the rest of the city. All three are on the outer parts of the city, not close to downtown.
