Scorpions do exist in Santa Fe New Mexico, however they are exceedingly rare, I would not be overly concerned.

It is the bark scorpion (Centruroides sculpturatus) found mostly in Arizona but also southwestern New Mexico.All the other scorpions can sting and the sting is painful but they are not dangerous.
