As in Galveston, if you own property on South Padre—a house or condo, as we do—you legally can go there.Late Thursday, South Padre Island set up checkpoints to make sure cars headed for the island have a good reason for being there.

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas – In an effort to limit traffic, the City of South Padre Island is enforcing checkpoints for vehicles entering the island beginning Friday. According to a release, this is “due to an increase in traffic that has been entering the Island and the numerous calls from concerned citizens.”
