According to World Bank estimates, poverty in Rajasthan has declined drastically since 2005-urban poverty has fallen sharply, by almost two-thirds, while rural poverty has halved. This is significant achievement for a state that was a laggard for decades in agriculture, industry, services, literacy and urbanisation.
