It is certainly a fascinating place. It takes 2-3 hours to get there by train, so it does make for a long day. The site is huge – to see it completely requires at least 5 hours. If you’re going to be in Rome for only 3 or 4 days, I would recommend NOT doing it, as you cannot even see all of Rome’s sites in that time.
