Is Edinburgh Zoo in lockdown?
Edinburgh Zoo to open for first time since Covid lockdown but with very specific entry requirements. The zoo will open on limited days as a “safe outdoor environment” for local residents only. Edinburgh Zoo have announced that they will be reopening next week for local residents for the first time since lockdown.
While most of the zoo is now open to visitors, our Wee Beasties building must remain closed until social distancing restricted are relaxed and our primate walkthroughs are closed because our lemurs and saki monkeys have an increased risk from Covid-19.
Can you walk around Edinburgh Zoo?
The zoo is set on a hill, there is quite a lot of walking but they offer vehicles for those that struggle with mobility. Large variety of animals to see, few areas were closed off but this wasn’t an issue (koala house and female panda house).You also cannot miss going to see the giant pandas.
Do you have to pay extra to see the pandas at Edinburgh Zoo?
No, all included in the main entrance fee. Check on the zoo website to see if you need to book a time slot to see them, we did not need to and stayed in the viewing area for as long as we wanted.
