How much is it to punt on river in Cambridge?
How much does it cost to self hire a punt in Cambridge? Self Hire punt prices range from £20 to £30 per hour. Self hire punt boats are available from Scudamore’s, Cambridge Chauffeur Punts, Granta moorings and Trinity College punts. Self hire is not available with Scholars Punting Cambridge at the moment.
Do you tip punters?
We’re often asked this by people who take our shared punting tours – should you give your punt chauffeur a tip? This is entirely up to you. If you’ve enjoyed yourself and think your guide has done a good job, then it’s common to leave a small tip….

Can you punt yourself?
Punt yourself on the River Cam
Some people learn to punt very quickly, but others don’t. If you haven’t punted before, our staff are always ready to offer punting tips and demonstrations. The maximum capacity of a self-hire punt is six people including punter (as required by law).
Do you get wet punting?
No matter how good you are at punting, you’ll find that your clothing will get a little wet (soaked if you jump in)! I recommend avoiding clothes that are made of thin, flowing material as they have a habit of attaining degrees in transparency (Cambridge certified, of course)!
Is punting difficult?
Professional chauffeurs make the act of punting look very easy, but don’t be fooled it is very difficult. You could be forgiven for thinking that the act of pushing the boat with a pole off the river bed seems straight forward, and in theory, it is.
Do punt poles float?
If you shove gently, you are less likely to steer wildly. At the end of the stroke, relax and allow the pole to float up like a rudder behind you.
Can dogs go on punts in Oxford?

Can you go punting with a dog?
Scudamore’s is one of the main punting companies in Cambridge, and the only dog-friendly one. And they are SO dog friendly! There are a couple of “ports” where you can hop on a boat – either with a group and a guide or on your own – and the staff at each of them were eager to give Giorgio a little cuddle.

Grand Arcade is a pet free Centre. Please do not bring your dog to the centre as we only permit assistance dogs access.

Can babies go punting in Cambridge?
Babies and small children are welcome on our punts.Please note that on our punting tours they do count towards passenger numbers – even if they’re really tiny!
How does the punters app work?
Users can buy or sell tips on a daily basis. The tip seller must assign a price to their tips (typically $5 to $10) and then it’s up to the buyer to decide if they want to purchase them.
