Can you ski in Ecuador?

Skiing opportunities in Ecuador are limited to ski ascents of the countries four highest peaks, which are all volcanoes, Chimborazo, Cotopaxi, Cayambe. These are the only peaks in Ecuador with significant snow. Access to these peaks is easy, with huts at about 4500-5000m on all of them except Antisana.

Can you snowboard in Ecuador?

Since Ecuador has no ski resorts, riding a snow covered volcano would be your only snowboarding option here. Of course you will need to climb your way to the top first. You can find the most snow on these four volcanic peaks: Chimborazo (6268 meters)

Where in Ecuador does it snow?

The cool climate in Quito and other areas in the Andes usually merits a jacket. Snow rarely falls even at these high altitudes. The only glimpse of snow most Ecuadorians have ever had is of the snow capped peaks of 20,000+ feet (6,096m), which are covered in snow year round.

Peru has no resorts or even a basic ski area but it does have snow and glaciers at the tops of the high Andes and a long history of skiing centred on the town of Huaraz, north of capital Lima and close to Huascaran, the country’s highest peak at 6768m (22,056 feet).
