As every where in the world Antigua has its fair share of spiders. In Antigua the largest ones are called horse spiders. They can be as large as the palm of your hand but are very rarely seen, not poisonous and are more scared of you then you are of them.

In general, sand fly bites are very painful. Most flies that bite humans feed during the evening and throughout the night. In some cases, flies will attack in the daytime, if they are disturbed while resting.

Antigua and Barbuda is claimed as a really safe country, probably because all the people are so deeply relaxed. But nature has a saying in this too. Hurricane Irma sadly destroyed most of Barbuda, which means, that the island is uninhabitable for the next couple of year. Antigua was luckily not damaged.
