The two countries currently do not maintain formal diplomatic relations (as of November 2021).The recognition of Israel is a politically delicate issue for the Malaysian government, as the Southeast Asian country is an ardent supporter of Palestinian rights and opposes Israeli jurisdiction over East Jerusalem.
