Where is the Australian Height Datum?

The Australian Height Datum (Tasmania) 1983 (AHD-TAS83) is based on mean sea level in 1972 at tides gauges in Hobart and Burnie. It was propagated throughout Tasmania using third order differential levelling over 72 sections between 57 junction points and computed via adjustment on 17 October 1983.

As the tide rises and falls, hourly observations of the height of the sea on an open coast are conducted over a 19-year period.

What reduced meter level?

It is a vertical distance between survey point and adopted datum plane. Thus it is considered as the base elevation which is used as reference to reckon heights or depths of other important places. Reduced here means equating and Level means Elevations.

What do you mean by AMSL?

The term above mean sea level (AMSL) is the elevation or altitude used by engineers to determine the coverage area a station will be able to reach. It is also used in aviation, where most heights are recorded and reported in AMSL (see flight level), and in the atmospheric sciences.

What is AMSL in building?

Above Mean Sea Level (AMSL)
Above Mean Sea Level or commonly abbreviated as AMSL is the level of the surface of one or more of Earth’s bodies of water from which heights such as elevation may be measured. An AMSL of 104.5 will mean it is 4.5m above the sea level.

How do you find the above Ordnance Datum?

Ordnance Survey Bench marks (BMs) are survey marks made by Ordnance Survey to record height above Ordnance Datum. If the exact height of one BM is known, the exact height of the next can be found by measuring the difference in heights, through a process of spirit levelling.
