Some formal public restrooms are available, but one can use restrooms in hotels and restaurants, even when you are not a client. In Egypt, both “squat” and “sit down” restrooms can be seen, but the western sit down is more common.

The majority of the Egyptian people have toilets that either has bidet tubes or are squat toilets. With squat toilets, users require a hose and bucket to flush and wash their hands. Both types can become very unsanitary, especially public toilets.
