Are Maui beaches white?

The beaches of Maui are different from the white sand beaches of the Caribbean. The sand is a little more coarse, varying in color (golden to red). The water is just as clear (not as vibrant blue, due to the different color sand), but Maui is spectacular and gorgeous in many ways.
