NWS Meteorologist Eric Platt says freezing temperatures that late in the season are unusual. He says the average first-freeze date for the San Antonio-area is November 30, based on climate data from 1991 to 2020. Last year we had our first freezing temperatures on December 1 where we hit 28 degrees, Platt says.
