Is Annapolis open for tours?

Access to the Academy grounds is limited.
Anyone with a locally prepared USNA ID Card or a DOD credential, including military retirees and dependents may drive onto USNA.Visitors under the age of 21 who do not have a valid picture ID must be escorted by an adult with a valid form of identification.
Q: I do not have a Military or USNA ID card, how do I gain access to the US Naval Academy Complex? A: The general public may walk in through the Visitors Access Center at Gate 1 during general visiting hours. When the stadium courtesy shuttle is operating, you may access the Academy via this method.
The Naval Academy Chapel and Crypt of John Paul Jones is open for visitors most weekdays, except when the Chapel is being used for weddings, funerals and memorial services, and other special events. Hours for visitation are from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm.

Additionally, it is home to the Naval Academy Museum, which features more than 50,000 artifacts and is home to the famous Gallery of Ships. Just a block away from the Annapolis City Dock, the main entrance to the Naval Academy is located at Randall Street and Prince George Street.
Admission to the US Naval Academy is based upon a 5 year military service post graduation with the US Navy or the US Marine Corps so all graduates go straight into employment post-academy.
Should I go to Annapolis?
Annapolis is small and beautiful, lots of colonial architecture, The United States Naval Academy, and as many seafood restaurants and your stomach can handle! The town is very walkable, and has just enough to see and do for a day or 2.
Keep in mind that all visitors 18 years and older will need to show a government-issued identification card; international visitors will need their passports. Guided public tours cost $12 per adult; $11 for seniors and $10 for children.
Normally dogs are allowed on the grounds of the Naval Academy, as long as you stay along the perimeter of their property.
9.1% (2020)United States Naval Academy admissions is most selective with an acceptance rate of 9%. Half the applicants admitted to United States Naval Academy have an SAT score between 1230 and 1450 or an ACT score of 28 and 33.
Dependents living on the US Naval Academy who are not already authorized to receive a Common Access Card (CAC) or military identification are eligible to receive a US Naval Academy ID Badge.
Anyone 18 years of age or older must present a valid, unexpired government issued driver’s license or identification card and an additional acceptable form of identification such as an SSN card, student ID, birth certificate, or voter registration card.
Admissions Overview
Naval Academy admissions is extremely selective with an acceptance rate of 8%. Students that get into Naval Academy have an average SAT score between 1240-1460 or an average ACT score of 26-32. The regular admissions application deadline for Naval Academy is rolling.
Use of the Chapel for weddings is limited to Naval Academy alumni, military staff and faculty members; active-duty military members assigned to Naval Support Activity Annapolis and active-duty military personnel living in the immediate vicinity of the Chapel who also regularly attend Chapel services.
John Paul Jones
The corporal remains of John Paul Jones were interred into the crypt beneath the Naval Academy crypt in 1906 in a ceremony presided over by President Theodore Roosevelt. From the point of his death in 1792 until then John Paul Jones’ remains had been in a grave in France, where he died.

The beautiful grounds of the Naval Academy are on 338 acres on the shores of the Chesapeake. Once accepted, you will attend the Academy free of charge, including room and board and summer training opportunities.
Do you accept transfer students? Yes and no. We do accept students from other colleges as long as they meet our age requirements, but they still have to attend the Academy for four years.Home-schooled students make up an increasing number of applicants for admission to the Naval Academy each year.
