Is the North Rim of Grand Canyon in Utah?

There are no roads across the canyon — did we mention it’s 18 miles wide and a mile deep? — so you may want to make the North and South Rims separate trips. The North Rim is a short drive from Kanab, Utah (what national park isn’t?!), just 90 miles south on AZ-67 through the forest flattop of Kaibab Plateau.

Is the skywalk worth it?

Worth it? Absolutely. However, to make a visit to the South Rim worthwhile, you need to plan to spend at least a few hours here. It can be done as a day trip from Las Vegas, but you will spend most of the day in your car (it takes 4.5 hours to drive from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon).

Which rim of the Grand Canyon has the best views?

However, the North Rim does boast the Grand Canyon’s highest viewpoints, at over 8,000 feet. The most popular is Bright Angel Point, which is just a short walk from the Grand Canyon Lodge. From here, you can take in sweeping views of the canyon, and see all the way to the South Rim.

Grand Canyon Village is the most popular place to stay in Grand Canyon and it is not hard to see why. This tiny township has been purpose-built for easy access to the National Park’s main entrance gate. Unless you camp inside the park, you can’t stay any closer than this.

Is Las Vegas or Phoenix closer to the Grand Canyon?

Your Grand Canyon road trip can come to an end with you either flying home from Phoenix or Las Vegas. While Phoenix is closer, if you chose to go to Las Vegas, you can incorporate some of the stops from the “Grand Canyon Road Trip From Las Vegas” portion of this article.
