Is Edinburgh Zoo in lockdown?
Edinburgh Zoo to open for first time since Covid lockdown but with very specific entry requirements. The zoo will open on limited days as a “safe outdoor environment” for local residents only. Edinburgh Zoo have announced that they will be reopening next week for local residents for the first time since lockdown.

Yes, you can leave and come back. You will need to have your hand stamped when you leave, and show the hand stamp when you re-enter.

Can you take a picnic to Edinburgh Zoo? Yes, you can bring your own packed lunch to eat in the grounds or dedicated picnic areas. Whether or not you take a picnic, it’s worth taking your own snacks as these are expensive.
Are zoos open UK 2021?

No, all included in the main entrance fee. Check on the zoo website to see if you need to book a time slot to see them, we did not need to and stayed in the viewing area for as long as we wanted.

The adorable addition to the Columbus Zoo now has a name. The zoo’s nine-week-old baby Asian elephant has been named Frankie. The elephant received his name from a donor family who prefers to remain anonymous. The donor family chose the name Frankie to honor their mother Frances who died in November.
Where do zoos get their food UK?
We use local suppliers where we can. At Whipsnade, all our meat is supplied through a local butcher who sources our fresh meat we use from within a 45 mile radius of the zoo. A local farm supplies our milk, fruit and vegetables.
